Accessibility

The Emmanuel Centre is a Grade II listed building and was not built with step-free access in mind. Every effort has therefore been made to ensure the venue is as accessible as possible to visitors with disabilities, limited mobility or additional needs and by having accessibility staff ready to assist at every event.

Main entrance

The building has one main entrance on Marsham Street. It has three steps, which can be made step-free via our ramp or stair climber.

Our rooms

Wheelchair users can access our foyer and Upper Hall via ramps (suitable for non-motorised wheelchairs only) or with our stairclimber. The Auditorium can be reached via a step-free entrance on Tufton Street. There is a bay for up to three wheelchairs in the Auditorium, while seating is flexible in the Upper Hall. Both the foyer and the Upper Hall have smooth stone flooring, the Auditorium has a mix of carpeting, wood and stone, and all rooms have a reverberant acoustic.

Accessible toilet facilities

Accessible toilet facilities are available in the Auditorium or via Tufton Street. For wheelchair users attending events in the Upper Hall there are accessible toilets in the Emmanuel Church office next door too, and we can provide assistance for anyone wishing to use them.

Induction loops

Induction loops are available in the Auditorium and Upper and Lower Halls. Please speak to us in advance if you require this facility.

Parking and drop-off

Disabled guests arriving by taxi or car can be dropped off in front of the venue. There are Blue Badge bays available on Great Peter Street, Horseferry Road and Smith Square nearby – find out more here.

Public transport

The nearest tube stations with step-free access are Westminster and Victoria. Bus stops for the 88, C10 and 3 routes are located on Marsham Street and Horseferry Road, and many other bus routes run nearby.

Assistance and guide dogs

Guide dogs, hearing dogs and assistance dogs are welcome at the Emmanuel Centre. Please let us know in advance if a guest will be bringing one.

Personal evacuation plans

We must ensure that everyone can be evacuated safely in the event of an emergency. If you feel a guest’s disability could delay evacuation of themself or others via our fire exits, please contact us ahead of your event to agree a mutually convenient personal evacuation plan.
